Ruby Necklace
If you want to buy a ruby necklace, there are a few tips that will come in handy. For one, you should know that rubies are very hard and do not deface or scratch easily. They are extremely durable and so they are great as gifts for people who you know will be wearing them frequently.
The size, the quality and color of the ruby will decide the price that you pay, and larger stones are more expensive while clear rubies with little or no inclusions will cost more than those with visible inclusions. A ruby without inclusions can cost you twice as much as another that is much bigger but with some inclusions within.
Always ask the jeweler to see your ruby necklace under a microscope before agreeing to buy it, so that you can check it out up close and make sure that you are getting only the highest in quality.
Also remember when you are buying a ruby necklace that very often, rubies have some form of a surface coating that is used to camouflage surface fractures and such coatings will wear off in time.
